Exciting Opportunity at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center: Join the Genome Editing and Screening Core as a Senior Research Technician!
The Genome Editing and Screening Core accelerates cancer discovery research by providing advanced CRISPR genome editing, functional genomics, and high-throughput screening technologies to identify novel cancer targets and uncover mechanisms driving tumor growth and drug resistance. The Core enables investigators to build sophisticated cancer models and perform large-scale genetic and drug screens that rapidly translate biological insights into potential therapeutic strategies. You will contribute directly to developing and applying groundbreaking screening platforms that help researchers discover more precise and effective cancer treatments. Through these efforts, the role supports transformative discoveries that can improve outcomes for patients across many cancer types.
Role Overview:
- Laboratory Support: Prepare and maintain lab equipment, instruments, solutions, stains, assays, and other essential supplies.
- Techniques & Assays: carrying out molecular biology assays in the lab in support of the GES (CRISPR/RNAi) Core, cloning of individual shRNAs/sgRNAs, sub-cloning pre-existing shRNA libraries and pooled libraries into appropriate expression vectors
- Data Management: Analyze Hiseq research data, prepare reports, and provide insights to the research team.
- Collaboration: Assist peers and researchers with ongoing projects, fostering a team-oriented, supportive environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in biology or biochemistry, or Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience.
- Wet lab experience; CRISPR Cas9 or RNAi experience is highly valued.
Core Skills:
- Attention to detail and strong record-keeping habits.
- Ability to follow protocols while troubleshooting when needed.
- Team-oriented approach to supporting postdocs and fellow researchers.
- Adaptability in a dynamic lab environment.

- Schedule: 37.5 hours per week (onsite)
