Allied Health Opportunities
This team enhances patient care, safety, and satisfaction by evaluating new and evolving technologies for clinical application and integrating them into the patient care environment.
You can specialize in clinical engineering, radiological engineering, radiation oncology engineering, biomedical systems, and mechanical instrumentation.
Our registered and certified dietitian-nutritionists help incorporate nutrition into care plans for our patients before, during, and after their cancer therapy.
A blend of business, science, and computer expertise, HIM links clinicians with information technology. It is the bridge between a patient’s health information and health insurers, state and federal governments, and other regulating agencies.
You will be responsible for the coding, scanning, release, and storage of medical documentation, as well as managing discharge summaries and operative reports.
With the opening of multiple outpatient facilities and an increase in overall patient services, we have an evolving need for talented new HIM team members across a variety of roles.
At Memorial Sloan Kettering, we believe in caring for the whole person, not just their disease or symptoms. Integrative medicine weaves natural treatments such as acupuncture, massage, and yoga into our patients’ overall care plan.
Our Integrative Medicine team includes mind-body therapists, acupuncturists, massage therapists, music therapists, dance therapists, and meditation and martial arts instructors.
Our state-of-the-art clinical laboratories provide sophisticated technology and automated equipment, which means our teams get answers faster, more efficiently, and with a greater emphasis on applied and translational research. We are committed to the area’s growth and the education of our scientists, clinicians, medical technologists, laboratory managers, and laboratory directors.
This department is a recognized world leader in the development of radiotherapy treatment and imaging technologies used for diagnosis, therapy guidance, and treatment response monitoring. The department handles the quality assurance of more than 10,000 medical instruments, from mammography to hospital telemetry devices, and is responsible for the safety of various forms of radiation therapy.
The team consists of faculty members, physicists, engineers, and other staff members. In addition to clinical and quality assurance, the department has many faculty members who are devoted to research and development.
The Department of Pathology at MSK is a dedicated, diverse group known for their expertise, ingenuity, and compassion. Working in a highly motivating environment, the group receives a complex variety of more than 110,000 specimens annually and performs more than 50,000 molecular diagnostic and cytogenetic tests. More than 600 staff members are spread across four laboratory services: surgical pathology, hematopathology, cytology, and molecular diagnostics.
Pathology provides laboratory support for the Mohs micrographic and dermatologic surgery program and supports MSK’s research mission through the division of experimental pathology. We’re also advancing the field of digital pathology through our slide scanning and computational pathology efforts. All of our laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, such as ThermoFisher senior grossing stations with advanced camera optics and touch screens, laser capture microdissection capabilities, telecytology remote microscopy, advanced flow cytometry panels, and Illumina sequencing instruments.
The Pharmacy Department takes a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, with an emphasis on therapeutic efficacy and safety. We have one of the most robust sets of electronic clinical resources in the country and a dynamic medication safety program. With more than 300 employees, including around 200 pharmacists, we serve patients in 26 satellite pharmacies.
The size and scope of MSK provide many opportunities for you to advance your skills and knowledge and explore career opportunities. MSK is also one of the only health systems in the country that provides live, on-site, accredited continuing education pharmacy courses to help keep credentials up-to-date.
With access to the latest equipment, technologies, and procedures, our team works at the leading edge of innovation. Our core mission is to make imaging and therapy more specific, sensitive, safe, and effective. Radiologic technologists work in general radiology, mammography, ultrasound, CT, MRI, interventional radiology, and molecular imaging and therapy. Our research includes almost any area of imaging, ranging from traditional techniques to up-to-the-minute technologies.
Our radiology team includes chemists, radiochemists, cell biologists, immunologists, postdoctoral fellows, scholars, graduate students, research technicians, and senior scientists.
During cancer treatment, physical and occupational abilities, speech, and hearing can be negatively affected. Our therapists work collaboratively with rehabilitation medicine doctors, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, lymphedema therapists, and others to help our patients achieve their rehabilitation goals. These goals may include an improved ability to walk or speak, or dressing independently — all meaningful aspects of our mission to improve patients’ quality of life by helping them reach their maximum functional potential.
With leading-edge technology in both invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation, fiber-optic bronchoscopy, and pulmonary rehabilitation, the team is focused on all three missions of MSK: patient care, education, and research. Working collaboratively with other teams, our respiratory therapists diagnose and treat a wide variety of conditions, as well as provide in-service education for doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Our ongoing respiratory care research includes projects in both inhaled antibiotics and inhaled chemotherapy.
Every patient at MSK is offered the services of our social work team. We are helpers, counselors, and trusted confidants who provide all kinds of support with the many daunting challenges of cancer. Our approach is both practical and psychosocial, covering everything from financial impact and employment worries to communicating with friends and family. Our social workers lead support groups, work on inpatient units, and assist with discharge planning and home care.
“The most satisfying part of working in lab medicine at MSK is the opportunities that are available. There are always new protocols and special projects that we can participate in or lead.”
“I selected MSK as an employer because I wanted to grow as a technician but, more importantly, as a human being. MSK has raised the bar in patient care and is known for having a prestigious reputation in cancer treatment and research.”
“One of the most rewarding experiences I have had at MSK is the experience of mentorship. The hours can be long, and there are constantly new things to learn, but there is a feeling that the faculty is directly and personally vested in your success.”
