Join the MSK Biobank and Pathology Core, Immunohistochemistry Division as a Research Technician and be part of a team that supports life-saving cancer research across Memorial Sloan Kettering. The Core Facility supports tissue sample procurement, histology, and immunohistochemistry services for MSK investigators and external collaborators. Your work will help enable discoveries in cancer biology, treatment response, and precision medicine that directly impact patient care.
Role Overview
- Primarily perform automated Immunohistochemistry (IHC) using different stainer platforms (e.g., Leica, Ventana).
- Perform hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining to support tissue evaluation and analysis.
- Assist in the development of new IHC protocols and techniques.
- Assist with testing and validation of new antibodies for IHC protocols.
- Analyze and troubleshoot equipment-related issues.
- Maintain necessary quality control and assurance records.
- Work closely with the core’s Senior IHC Specialist to clarify investigator project requirements and deliver high-quality staining results.
- Work with Senior IHC specialist and core pathologists to optimize staining protocols and support review of staining results.
- Section paraffin-embedded and frozen tissue specimens as requested.
Key Qualifications
- BA/BS in Biochemistry, Biology, chemistry, pharmacology, or related field.
- Wet lab experience, ability to perform dilutions and laboratory calculations highly valued.
- Licensing is not required.

- Ability to work independently and perform repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent record-keeping habits.

- Ability to follow protocols while troubleshooting when needed.
- Team-oriented approach to support technologists, specialists, physicians and scientists across MSK.

- Location: 1275 York Avenue, NYC
- Schedule: On-site, 37.5 hours per week; Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

About the Core: The Biobank and Pathology Core Facility at MSK is a centralized, comprehensive facility for research involving human tissue. The Core Facility performs tissue sample procurement, histology, and immunohistochemistry services for MSK investigators and external collaborators. The immunohistochemistry (IHC) division provides staining of formalin-fixed tissues samples and maintains a growing and extensive list of 500+ IHC staining protocols.
Pay Range: $26.77 - $40.05
FSLA Status: Non-Exempt
