About Us:
The people of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) are united by a singular mission: ending cancer for life. Our specialized care teams provide personalized, compassionate, expert care to patients of all ages. Informed by basic research done at our Sloan Kettering Institute, scientists across MSK collaborate to conduct innovative translational and clinical research that is driving a revolution in our understanding of cancer as a disease and improving the ability to prevent, diagnose, and treat it. MSK is dedicated to training the next generation of scientists and clinicians, who go on to pursue our mission at MSK and around the globe.
Exciting Opportunity: Postdoctoral Fellow-HOPP
A postdoctoral position is available at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) for an outstanding candidate interested in cancer biology in myeloid malignancies. Our research aims to improve our understanding of the genetic and epigenetic basis of myeloid malignancies, and to use this knowledge to guide therapies for patients with these disorders. Our work encompasses a wide range of in vitro and in vivo experimental techniques and model systems including cell cultures, signaling assays, proximity ligation assays, reversible gene induction and knockouts, protein biochemistry, flow cytometry, mouse xenograft and genetic models, and interrogation of clinical samples. MSKCC is a highly collaborative environment, and our laboratory is involved in collaborations with multiple other research programs within the scientific community including programs in single cell cores, computational biology, cell biology, chemistry and chemical biology, and epigenetics. The candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Wenbin Xiao in the Levine lab.
Role Overview:
- Conduct mechanistic studies on the genetic and epigenetic regulation of AML pathogenesis.
- Develop and apply cellular and animal models to investigate therapeutic targets and treatment responses.
- Utilize a range of molecular biology and biochemical techniques, including signaling assays, gene editing, and protein analysis.
- Collaborate closely with clinical teams to integrate findings from patient samples.
- Supervise technicians and students in the lab
- Contribute to the publication of research findings and the preparation of grant applications.
Key Requirement:
- A highly motivated PhD and/or MD in molecular biology, cancer biology, hematology, or a related field
- Strong experience with cell culture, flow cytometry, and molecular biology techniques.
- Familiarity with gene editing methods (e.g., CRISPR/Cas9) and mouse models preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a track record of scientific productivity.
Application Instructions:
- Curriculum vitae including a list of publications.
- A cover letter describing your research experience and motivation for this position.
- Contact details for at least two academic referees.
- Optional: A brief summary of previous experience with relevant AML or hematological research.
- Submit your application to Dr. Wenbin Xiao, xiaow@mskcc.org
