Exciting Opportunity at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center: Join the Clinical Genetics team as a Research Technician!

The Clinical Genetics Service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center investigates inherited and genomic alterations that predispose individuals to cancer, developing advanced frameworks to interpret genetic variants and guide targeted therapies. You will contribute to multidisciplinary and international research efforts that translate genetic discoveries into personalized risk assessment, prevention strategies, and precision treatments that improve outcomes for patients and families affected by hereditary cancers. 

Role Overview:

  • Laboratory Research and Experimental Support: Perform and support a range of molecular biology and cell culture experiments, including DNA extraction, qPCR, luciferase assays, CRISPR workflows, and genomic sample preparation.
  • Biospecimen and Sample Management: Manage, track, and coordinate biospecimens, including aliquoting, storage, interdepartmental transfers, and shipment to internal and external collaborators.
  • Data and Database Management: Maintain and organize research databases (REDCap, Access, Excel), ensuring accurate data entry, quality control, and integration of multi-source datasets.
  • Clinical Research and Regulatory Support: Support clinical research activities, including IRB submissions, protocol development, compliance reporting, and coordination of research agreements.
  • Laboratory Operations and Quality Management: Ensure efficient lab operations through SOP adherence, equipment maintenance, inventory management, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
  • Team Support and Scholarly Contribution: Contribute to team success through training support, mentorship, data presentation, literature review, and participation in scientific publications and presentations.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field.
  • Proven basic laboratory skills, experience with on or more of the following is highly valued: cell culture, PCR, DNA extraction, CRISPR.

Core Skills:

  • Attention to detail and strong record-keeping habits. 
  • Ability to follow protocols while troubleshooting when needed. 
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook and Access.
  • Team-oriented approach to supporting postdocs and fellow researchers. 
  • Adaptability in a dynamic lab environment.

  • Location: NYC; Zuckerman Research Center
  • Schedule: onsite; 37.5 hours per week
