Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Join the Thoracic Oncology Surgery Service as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP)!

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) to join our Thoracic Oncology Surgery team. This role offers a dynamic blend of operating room, outpatient clinic, and consultative responsibilities while caring for patients undergoing complex thoracic surgical procedures.

Role Overview:

In this role, you will provide comprehensive care to patients across the Thoracic Oncology Surgery service, helping to meet their medical and psychosocial needs throughout the surgical continuum. You will collaborate closely with attending surgeons and multidisciplinary team members while participating in outpatient care, perioperative management, inpatient consultations, and first assisting in the operating room.

As an APP at MSK, you will be a valued member of a team of over 900 Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants dedicated to delivering compassionate, expert, and evidence-based cancer care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare team members in the outpatient setting.

  • Provide comprehensive perioperative and postoperative care for thoracic surgery patients.

  • First and second assist in the operating room for a wide variety of thoracic oncology procedures.

  • Participate in inpatient consultative care and care coordination across the healthcare continuum.

  • Support patient education initiatives and clinical programs designed to optimize outcomes and patient experience.

  • Contribute to quality improvement, research, and evidence-based practice initiatives.

Key Qualifications:

For Physician Assistants:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program

  • NCCPA certification

  • Active NYS license or eligible for New York State licensure

  • Minimum of 3 years of related surgical experience strongly preferred

OR

For Nurse Practitioners:

  • Current New York State RN and NP license/registration

  • Master's degree in Nursing

  • Prescriptive privileges (or eligibility)

  • Related National NP certification

  • Current RNFA certification required

  • Minimum of 3 years of related surgical experience strongly preferred

Core Skills:

  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills in a complex surgical environment.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting.

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills with physicians, APPs, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Adaptability and flexibility to meet the evolving needs of the service.

  • Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.

  • Ability to build relationships and gain support from colleagues through teamwork and professionalism.

  • Schedule: Full-time, four 10-hour shifts per week, day shift

  • Location: Main Campus, 1275 York Avenue, New York, NY

  • Reporting to: Manager, APP
