Exciting Opportunity at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center: Join the Nadeem Riaz Lab as a Research Technician!
The Riaz Lab at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center focuses the intersection of the DNA damage response with the immune system in murine models and cancers from human patients. We use syngeneic and genetically engineered models to evaluate how DNA repair defects may influence immunity and evaluate their influence on the tumor microenvironment. We also conduct trials aimed at personalizing and safely reducing radiation and chemotherapy for patients with HPV-positive throat and head and neck cancers while maintaining treatment effectiveness. You would directly support studies that refine cancer therapy to minimize toxicity and improve long-term quality of life, helping advance more precise, patient-centered cancer treatment strategies.
In this role, you will work with post-doctoral fellows to facilitate translational cancer research. This will involve work with mouse models of cancer, human specimens, and validation work in in-vitro systems.
Role Overview:
- Laboratory Support: Prepare and maintain lab equipment, instruments, solutions, stains, assays, and other essential supplies.
- Techniques & Assays: Perform specialized techniques, such as flow cytometry, tissue culture, immunophenotyping, basic mouse handling techniques, extracting nucleic acids, CRISPR-based genome editing, immunofluorescence etc.
- Animal Handling: Conduct animal studies, including injections, monitoring, collection/harvesting of tissues, fluids; animal autopsies in order to make chemical identification and conduct analyses.
- Data Management: Record and analyze research data, prepare reports, and provide insights to the research team.
- Collaboration: Assist peers and researchers with ongoing projects, fostering a team-oriented, supportive environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biology/life sciences.
- Basic laboratory skills; experience with tissue culture, flow cytometry, and mouse models a plus.
- Comfort working with mice is required for this role.

Additional Information:
- Location: NYC; 1275 York Avenue
- Schedule: On-site, 37.5 hours per week, typical hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
