About Us:

The people of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) are united by a singular mission: ending cancer for life. Our specialized care teams provide personalized, compassionate, expert care to patients of all ages. Informed by basic research done at our Sloan Kettering Institute, scientists across MSK collaborate to conduct innovative translational and clinical research that is driving a revolution in our understanding of cancer as a disease and improving the ability to prevent, diagnose, and treat it. MSK is dedicated to training the next generation of scientists and clinicians, who go on to pursue our mission at MSK and around the globe.

Exciting opportunity at MSK: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Technician to join a collaborative, fast-paced team of scientists in the Sfeir Lab. In this role, you will support ongoing research projects involving molecular cloning, imaging, and functional genomics, while contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of the laboratory.

The Sfeir Lab explores the fundamental mechanisms that preserve genome integrity, with a focus on telomere biology, DNA repair pathways, and mitochondrial DNA maintenance. Using mouse genetics, advanced cell biology, and modern molecular tools, the team investigates how these pathways impact stem cell biology and cancer development. We are part of MSKCC’s world-class research environment, offering exceptional opportunities for scientific growth and collaboration.

Role Overview

  • Engage in cross-disciplinary research efforts within the Molecular Biology Program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of prior research experience (academic or industry).

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and data integrity.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a highly collaborative team environment.

  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to commit to at least two years in the role.

Core Skills

  • Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with molecular biology assays, cloning, PCR, and cell culture techniques.

  • Scientific Rigor: Commitment to producing accurate, reproducible, and well-documented data.

  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively across scientific teams and support collective research goals.

  • Problem-Solving: Resourceful and adaptable when troubleshooting experimental challenges.

  • Learning Agility: Enthusiasm for developing new skills and mastering emerging research techniques.

Additional Information
