Exciting Opportunity at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center: Join the Ping Chi Lab as a Research Technician!

The Chi Lab at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center investigates how genetic and epigenetic factors within specific cellular contexts drive cancer development, with a focus on sarcoma and melanoma, to uncover mechanisms of oncogenesis and identify novel therapeutic targets. We are seeking a motivated and organized Research Technician to contribute to ground-breaking studies that define how tumors arise at the molecular level, helping to develop biomarkers and targeted treatments that could significantly improve precision cancer therapy.

Role Overview:

  • Laboratory Support: Prepare and maintain lab records, lab equipment, instruments, solutions, stains, assays, and other essential supplies and inventories. Assist in coordinating lab operations.
  • Techniques & Assays: Perform specialized techniques, such as cell culture, cell separation, electrophoresis, ELISA, DNA/RNA extractions, PCR, molecular cloning, immunoblotting, etc.
  • Animal Handling: Conduct animal studies, including injections, tissue/fluids collection, and animal autopsies to facilitate analysis of mechanistic and treatment studies of animal cancer models.
  • Data Management: Record and analyze research data, prepare reports, and provide insights to the research team.
  • Collaboration: Assist peers and researchers with ongoing projects, fostering a team-oriented, supportive environment.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, or related field.
  • Prior research experience in molecular or cell biology techniques.
  • Experience with animal handling or in vivo experiments.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Attention to detail and strong record-keeping habits. 
  • Ability to follow protocols while troubleshooting when needed. 
  • Team-oriented approach to supporting postdocs and fellow researchers. 
  • Adaptability in a dynamic lab environment.

  • Location: NYC; Zuckerman
  • Schedule: On-site, Monday to Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
