Exciting Opportunity at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center: Join the Lowe Lab as a Research Technician! Joining the Lowe Lab means contributing directly to research that shapes the future of cancer treatment. Led by Dr. Scott Lowe, a pioneering cancer biologist, the lab is at the forefront of understanding how genetic changes drive cancer development and influence how tumors respond to therapy.
This position is an excellent opportunity to be part of that mission. The role focuses primarily on laboratory organization, inventory management, and routine bench tasks under the guidance of senior staff. While foundational in nature, this work is essential to keeping a high-performing research lab running efficiently. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, comfortable in a fast-paced scientific environment, and committed to maintaining the high standards of cancer research.
Role Overview:
- Laboratory Support: Maintain overall lab cleanliness and organization, including shared workspaces, storage areas, and equipment stations; Monitor inventory of reagents, consumables, and supplies; assist with ordering and restocking; Properly label, store, and track materials, samples, and chemical inventories; Assist in maintaining safety documentation, MSDS records, and compliance logs; Perform routine equipment upkeep (calibration checks, temperature logs, cleaning).
- Techniques & Assays: Perform routine cell culture and molecular biology work (e.g., Western blot, ELISA, IHC and/or IF, qPCR etc).
- Animal Handling: Conduct routine mouse work (e.g., injections, tissue/fluids collection, animal autopsies).
- Data Management: Record and analyze research data, prepare reports, and provide insights to the research team.
- Collaboration: Assist peers and researchers with ongoing projects, fostering a team-oriented, supportive environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or a related life sciences field.
- Experience with cell culture and molecular biology work.
- Comfort working directly with animal models is required for this role; experience working with mice is preferred.

- Ability to follow protocols while troubleshooting when needed.

Additional Information:
- Location: NYC; Zuckerman Research Center
- Schedule: Onsite, 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday 9 am – 5 pm
