Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Director, Search Strategy & AI Optimization

The Director, Search Strategy & AI Optimization is a great leadership opportunity to shape how the world discovers, experiences, and trusts MSK—an institution dedicated to ending cancer for life. This role sits at the intersection of search, reputation, and innovation, bringing clarity, confidence, and cohesion to how MSK shows up across traditional, local, and AI-driven search. You’ll partner with influential leaders, guide enterprise strategy, and make a lasting impact on patients, physicians, and the communities MSK serves. 

Role Overview 

  • Own the enterprise strategy and champion a cohesive vision for search engine optimization, local listings, and online reviews. 

  • Lead modernization of search engine optimization capabilities including optimizing content for LMMs and generative search engines . 

  • Partner with listings vendors to ensure accurate, consistent location data across platforms. 

  • Collaborate with survey and review vendors to expand and mature review management. 

  • Serve as a cross-functional connector across multiple departments including but not limited to  Marketing & Communication, Legal, Physicians, and operations.. 

  • Translate complex search performance and risk into clear, executive-ready insights. 

  • Anticipate and adapt to generative search and AI-driven discovery trends. 

  • Define governance, standards, and accountability for enterprise search accuracy and trust. 

  • Navigate sensitive or high-stakes situations with confidence and diplomacy 

 

Key Qualifications 

  • Proven experience leading enterprise SEO, search, or digital visibility strategies. 

  • Deep understanding of local search, listings management, and location-based discovery. 

  • Experience managing vendor partnerships for listings and reviews platforms. 

  • Proven ability to present to senior executive audiences and respond thoughtfully and confidently to challenging questions.. 

  • Strong track record working cross-functionally with legal, clinical, and business stakeholders. 

  • Experience operating in complex, highly visible organizations  

  • Fluency in SEO technologies and markups (e.g. Brightedge, Yext, Schema, etc.) 

  • Healthcare experience or  ability to quickly learn regulated environments preferred but not required;
