Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Join MSK as a Radiology Scheduler! In this role, you will play a key role in delivering an exceptional patient experience by ensuring timely and accurate scheduling for a variety of imaging procedures—including CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Mammography, Bone Densitometry, and Nuclear Medicine—across MSK’s Main Campus, 53rd Street, 66th Street, and regional sites.

Shifts: 8:30am-4:30pm, 9:00am-5:00pm, 10:00am-6:00pm, 10:30am-6:30pm. Staff will be assigned shifts on a rotating basis based on the need and the operations of the group. There will be a thirty-day notice of all shift changes. Staff should be expected in NYC for an initial two-week training.

Role Overview:

  • Responds to radiology exam schedule requests from patients or MSKCC staff. Must have proficiency in EPIC to be able to determine available scan times and dates according to the latest guidelines. Records all patient and procedure information accurately.
  • Coordinates Radiology appointments while minimizing patient wait times between exams.
  • Registers new patients in EPIC.
  • Schedules all outpatient radiology exams according to patient needs and specified scheduling parameters. Must screen patients according to the guidelines and give pre-exam instructions for blood work and instructions for fasting, as well as directions on where to acquire prep kits when required.
  • Answers the telephone using accurate telephone techniques in an efficient manner and handles each inquiry in a proficient and friendly manner. Directs all calls appropriately and contacts the area supervisors and, when necessary, the Radiologists to acquire approval for exams which fall beyond the normal guidelines.
  • Reschedules and cancels appointments as requested. Contacts the service area if a cancellation is made one day before or on the same day of the appointment, so the appointment time can be reassigned. Notifies physician office assistant of all cancellations.
  • Confirms all appointments starting 48 hours before the exam. Maintains centralized database of confirmation calls.
  • Support patient calls on radiology image library ACD line for follow-up on outbound exam requests.
  • Reschedules patients due to changes in the schedule, per the direction of the manager or supervisor according to the latest templates when changes are made to existing templates. Discusses with physician office assistants which patients need to be rescheduled and confirms that new appointment time meets the physician’s practice requirements.
  • Register outside MD’s who are not in the system by finding their NPI numbers on the Internet and their address and phone numbers either from the patient or by calling the doctor’s office. Add their information into EPIC.
  • Works as part of a team by collaborating with other Radiology staff members and all Center personnel.
  • Completes special projects.
  • Follows downtime procedures by maintaining downtime materials. Continues to schedule patients during downtime if possible.
  • Competent with PACS, QGenda, and Excel for the Priority Read workflow.

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 37.5 hrs. Hybrid (staff are primarily remote but expected to come on site in the case of a home equipment failure, internet outage or management request).
