Associate Lab Director – Flow Cytometry Core Facility
Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is seeking a highly experienced, motivated, and innovative individual to serve as Associate Lab Director of the Flow Cytometry Core Facility. This role is central to MSK’s mission to deliver world-class scientific support and drive technological advancement in cancer research.
The Associate Lab Director will lead scientific strategy and innovation within the Core, partnering with the Core Director and Operations Manager to ensure the facility remains at the forefront of flow cytometry research and support.
Role Overview:
- Provide scientific leadership and strategic direction for the Flow Cytometry Core Facility.
- Oversee and guide Research & Development (R&D) initiatives to evaluate and implement emerging technologies.
- Consult with investigators to support experimental design, technique selection, and data interpretation.
- Develop and implement education and training programs focused on rigor, reproducibility, and scientific excellence.
- Supervise and mentor Core staff, fostering a culture of independence, curiosity, and continuous learning.
- Collaborate with other Core Facilities and research labs on joint projects, with opportunities for co-authorship and conference presentations.
- Contribute to strategic planning and help shape the future direction of the Core Facility.
- Maintain awareness of institutional priorities and ensure the Core’s services align with evolving research needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in immunology, cell biology, biochemistry, biophysics, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in flow cytometry, preferably in a core facility or research-intensive environment.
- Expertise in multicolor panel design, instrument optimization, and advanced data analysis.
- Proven track record of scientific leadership, innovation, and collaboration.
- Experience managing laboratory staff and overseeing day-to-day scientific operations.
- Open to candidates requiring visa sponsorship; however, processing times may vary under current policies.

Pay Range: $134,600.00 - $222,200.00
