Exciting Opportunity at MSK: The Office of General Counsel at MSK is seeking an experienced Assistant General Counsel to provide practical, timely legal advice on a broad range of regulatory and related matters impacting hospital operations and research programs. The candidate will work closely with the VP, Deputy General Counsel & Chief Regulatory Counsel, and other members of the MSK legal team in efficiently advising clients throughout the organization.


Role Overview:

  • Serve as primary point of contact for day-to-day legal advice regarding regulations that impact hospital operations and research activities

  • Interpret and apply federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidance, including the Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, Beneficiary Inducement Rule, False Claims Act, EMTALA, and billing/reimbursement rules, as well as requirements relating to price transparency, privacy, information blocking/interoperability, state licensure and scope-of-practice, hospital accreditation, 340B, the Common Rule, research security, sponsored programs, and conflict of interest

  • Provide regulatory support for strategic transactions

  • Assist in investigations of potential regulatory and/or compliance issues

  • Revise policies and procedures in support of efficient and compliant operations

  • Monitor regulatory developments and proactively update key stakeholders

  • Maintain and enhance professional growth and development through participation in professional associations and activities

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Key Qualifications:

  • A Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

  • New York State bar admission or in-house counsel registration

  • At least 4 years of related experience in an academic medical center legal department and/or law firm with a nationally-recognized health care practice

Additional Information:

  • Location: hybrid with at least three days on-site at 633 Third Avenue (in NYC)

  • Report to the VP, Deputy General Counsel & Chief Regulatory Counsel

Pay Range: $149,200-$272,900/annually
