Our Environmental Services team ensures a safe, clean, and supportive environment across the hospital. As Manager, Environmental Services, you’ll lead operations, staff, and quality initiatives to maintain the highest standards.

Role Overview

  • Oversee daily operations and prioritize workflows to ensure efficient departmental performance.
  • Develop, implement, and adjust programs for maintaining cleanliness and safety across facilities.
  • Monitor staffing needs, workload distribution, and scheduling to meet organizational demands.
  • Provide technical guidance and ensure adherence to infection control, fire safety, and waste disposal policies.
  • Manage and resolve scheduling challenges, emergency requests, and escalated complaints.
  • Maintain compliance with manufacturer guidelines and regulatory standards for cleaning and maintenance.
  • Lead supply and equipment management to ensure adequate resources for staff.
  • Drive performance improvement initiatives, identifying and implementing system enhancements.
  • Communicate effectively with leadership, supervisors, and staff to ensure alignment on goals and expectations.
  • Financial Oversight

Oversee cost center budget to ensure sound fiscal stewardship in alignment with departmental and organizational goals.

  • Staffing & Labor Management

Manage staffing levels, master schedules, and overtime utilization to remain within approved budget parameters.

  • Supply & Inventory Control

Monitor supply usage and inventory levels to maintain budget compliance and operational efficiency.

  • Strategic Resource Management

Support departmental initiatives and strategic objectives through proactive and effective resource management.

Key Qualifications

  • Proven expertise in staff leadership, training, conflict resolution, and performance management.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and quality assurance practices.
  • Demonstrated success in operational planning, process improvement, and project management.

Core Skills

  • Provide a high level of customer service by anticipating client needs, fostering strong partnerships, and ensuring all decisions prioritize patient care and experience.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage teams, deliver professional presentations, and prepare clear, well-organized reports for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and analytical abilities to identify and resolve operational, regulatory, and workflow challenges in a complex healthcare environment.
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills to build cohesive teams, promote collaboration, and effectively address performance or service issues.
  • Proficient in office and data management software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and communication platforms, with the ability to leverage technology for operational efficiency.

  • Schedule: Day Shift 9a-5p, on-call\weekend\holiday coverage as needed
  • Location: New York City sites
  • Report to: Associate Director, Environmental Services
