Role Overview:

Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Associate Attending Pediatric Neurosurgeon

The Department of Neurosurgery at MSK is seeking an academically motivated Assistant-level or Associate-level Pediatric Neurosurgeon with a focus on brain and spine tumors to join the Pediatric Neurosurgery Service within the department. This role offers the opportunity to work with a world-renowned team in pediatric neuro-oncology and to engage in impactful research aligned with MSK’s mission.

The successful candidate will also integrate into MSK Kids, the nation’s largest pediatric oncology program, which is dedicated exclusively to the care of children, teens, and young adults with cancer, immune deficiencies, and benign blood disorders. MSK Kids offers cutting-edge, personalized care through its Pediatric Translational Medicine Program, which uses advanced genetic profiling and individualized treatment strategies.

Key responsibilities include:
• Providing expert neurosurgical care to pediatric and adolescent and young adult patients with CNS tumors in both inpatient and outpatient settings
• Collaborating as a member of MSK’s multidisciplinary Pediatric Neuro-oncology Disease Management Team
• Contributing to clinical, translational, or laboratory-based research in pediatric neuro-oncology
• Participating in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows
• Advancing MSK’s mission through innovative care and academic contributions

Key Qualifications:

  • M.D. or equivalent with board certification or eligibility in Neurosurgery

  • Fellowship training in Pediatric Neurosurgery (ACGME-accredited) ]A minimum of five years of clinical experience in pediatric brain/ spine tumor surgery

  • Clinical or translational research portfolio

  • Strong commitment to academic medicine and interdisciplinary collaboration

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based environment

Core Skills:

  • Pediatric Neurosurgical Expertise: proven ability to manage complex pediatric neurosurgical cases, particularly brain and spinal tumors, with precision and sensitivity to the unique needs of pediatric patients and their families.

  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: skilled in working within a team-based, cross-specialty environment (e.g., neuro-oncology, radiation oncology, pediatric surgery, critical care) to develop and implement integrated care plans.

  • Clinical Research & Academic Engagement: demonstrated interest or experience in contributing to clinical trials, translational research, or outcomes-based studies in pediatric neurosurgery or neuro-oncology.

  • Patient-Centered Communication: exceptional communication skills for engaging with children, caregivers, and interdisciplinary care teams with empathy, clarity, and cultural competence.

  • Commitment to Teaching & Mentorship: enthusiasm for contributing to the education and training of fellows, residents, and students in a high-academic environment.

Pay Range: $506,500 – $793,500

Physician compensation is based on multiple variables. This range represents annual salary only and does not include supplemental performance-based pay or any one-time payments that eligible candidates may be offered at the time of hire.
