Hours & Location

  • Location: Bergen Outpatient Facility – 225 Summit Avenue, Montvale NJ 07645

  • Shifts available: Monday – Friday from 9 AM – 12 PM, 12 PM – 3 PM, 3 PM – 6 PM, & 4 PM – 7 PM

  • Note: Weekend shifts are not available

  • Please indicate all shifts you are available for when applying

Volunteer Opportunity
We’re seeking compassionate individuals who are excited to make a meaningful impact in a patient-focused environment at our Bergen outpatient facility in Montvale, New Jersey. Ideal candidates will help create a welcoming and supportive atmosphere ensuring that everyone who walks through our doors feels cared for and valued.

As a volunteer, you may:

  • Warmly welcome patients and caregivers upon arrival, setting a positive tone for their experience.

  • Guide and support wayfinding by escorting visitors to their destinations or answering general inquiries.

  • Foster comfort and connection by engaging in friendly conversation or offering reading materials.

  • Assist with non-clinical items such as organizing supplies, restocking stations or offering warm blankets.

  • Enhance the patient experience by supporting programs, special events and assisting patients navigate tools like MSK MyChart.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Age 16+

  • Available to commit to one 3-hour shift per week for a minimum of 6 months.

  • If you’re a former or current MSK patient, you must be at least one year out of active treatment.

  • Friendly, dependable, and comfortable interacting with patients, families and staff in a respectful and compassionate way.

Onboarding Process (average 4–6 weeks)

  • Virtual interview (based on scheduling needs and program fit)

  • 2–3 reference checks

  • Background check & drug screen (18+ only)

  • Medical clearance (flu and other immunizations required; at applicant’s expense)

*To stay active in the program, onboarding must be completed within 4-6 weeks. If your application is pending any onboarding tasks for 30+ days, your application may be rejected.

This is an unpaid volunteer role. The Volunteer Department does not oversee paid employment, internships, shadowing, or educational programs. Our program provides meaningful, long-term opportunities to support patients and staff.
