Role Overview:

Supervises and coordinates the day-to-day quality assurance activities of the Histocompatibility (HLA) Laboratory to achieve efficient and effective operations, to ensure quality service, and to meet the needs of clinical staff and patients.

Role Overview:

  • Directs and supervises activities of staff in assigned areas. Trains and evaluates the performance of staff, including competency assessments. Provides guidance, feedback, and opportunities for development, as appropriate.
  • Oversees area operations, prioritizes workflow, and assigns staff to meet the needs of the laboratory and ensure efficient and quality operations.
  • Completes all required documentation and produces necessary reports to ensure that information is accurate and meets laboratory guidelines. Performs internal audits. Assists with submissions to NYSDOH and other accreditation agencies, including annual applications.
  • Reviews work competed by the technologists to ensure accuracy. Implements the quality assurance and improvement program, and oversees proficiency testing. Performs technical studies, reviews data and testing to ensure accuracy. Reports results to manager and laboratory director to assist with quality improvement initiatives. Prepares and presents monthly quality reports to leadership staff. Presents annual quality monitoring reports to Department of Lab Medicine and Pathology. Participates in inspections with internal quality team and external accreditation agencies.
  • Maintains technical superiority in all aspects of laboratory operations.
  • Provides input into the selection and evaluation of new laboratory equipment. Maintains and troubleshoots instruments/equipment to ensure accuracy and quality. Ensures availability of appropriate supplies to carry out area’s responsibilities. Maintains documentation of equipment records and reagent performance verification records.
  • Oversees the upkeep and safety of the laboratory.

Key Qualifications:

  • NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or eligible to apply for NY license for Histocompatibility restricted license
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Clinical Laboratory Sciences with 4-7 years of experience

Additional Details:

  • Hybrid role: Four days a week on-site.
  • Shift: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

Pay Range: $122,800.00 - $196,500.00
