Role Overview:
Under supervision, prepares and assembles cold food items for patients, staff and visitors. Maintains safe and sanitary practices with regards to food preparation, equipment use, self and work area.
Key Qualifications:
- Prepares and assembles cold food items including salads, sandwiches, and cold plates according to daily production sheets and departmental guidelines.
- Ensures all necessary ingredients, utensils, and equipment are ready before beginning prep work.
- Weighs, measures, and portions ingredients and menu items based on standardized recipes and dietary needs.
- Labels and stores prepared food correctly, following proper storage, dating, and rotation (FIFO) guidelines.
- Maintains a clean, organized workstation and adheres to food safety standards and sanitation protocols at all times.
- Prepares special orders for patients with modified diets, labeling items clearly and storing appropriately for service.
- Supports bulk salad preparation and dessert assembly as assigned, following departmental presentation and portioning guidelines.
- Communicates ingredient shortages or equipment issues to supervisors promptly.
- Adheres to scheduled cleaning and equipment maintenance responsibilities and follows established health code and safety policies.
- Prepared to support tasks outside of their core responsibilities as business needs require
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 1 year of experience in food preparation or cold food assembly preferred.
- ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and follow basic instructions and standardized recipes.
- Must be able to lift, stand, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
