Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is seeking a Security Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations and supervision of security personnel, ensuring the safety of patients, visitors, staff, and property across assigned MSK locations.

Role Overview

• Manages supervisors and staff to maximize team efficiency in providing secure and safe conditions for employees, patients, and visitors. Reviews, monitors and evaluates current and projected workflow to accurately manage staffing needs. Identifies overtime staffing needs. Manages and approves vacations and time-off requests.
• Reviews shift post assignments to ensure effective deployment of personnel. Makes modifications as needed to adapt to changing conditions, unusual incidents, and to cover special events
• Manages enforcement of Hospital property removal policy. Investigates unusual removal requests
• Provides guidance to Supervisors and staff to ensure their activities and functions are performed consistent with established department and Hospital policies and procedures
• Implements corrective and disciplinary action when appropriate in following MSKCC's Performance Improvement process. Provides follow-up to ensure corrective / disciplinary action is effective in improving performance. Maintains necessary documentation. Makes recommendations for termination when appropriate
• Provides guidance and direction to the Supervisor and direct reports or initial incident response. Recommends investigative strategies and tactics
• Personally, performs investigations of an unusual or sensitive nature
• Manages technical support functions that facilitate operations, e.g. issuance of emergency cash disbursements, receipt, safeguarding and return of certain personal property, etc.
• Coordinates all procedures involved in the Emergency Preparedness Plan and ensures responsiveness to Fire Brigade/Emergency Preparedness personnel.
• Attend daily operations huddles and lead huddles as necessary and report out to VP on any issues requiring security follow-up.
• Flexible to work to help with coverage at all MSK sites including main campus, which might entail working weekends and after normal business hours.

Key Qualifications

• 1 year of supervisory experience in law enforcement, or 3 yrs experience as a Security Supervisor
• 3 years’ experience working in a hospital or healthcare facility
• New York State – Department of State - Security Guard License
• Candidate must begin the Fire and Life Safety Director certification process within 6 months of employment with full completion of acquired license at program’s end / conclusion within 18 months to satisfy FDNY requirements. (This is dependent and site specific)

Core Skills

• Basic knowledge of computer applications (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
• Knowledge of Security Systems (Access Control, CCTV, digital security and alarm systems)
• Good leadership skills and willingness to accept a high level of responsibility involving confidential matters to protect sensitive information and adherence to company policies and legal requirements.

Full-Time, Open availability 37.5 hours a week

Location: Main Campus; 1275 York Ave.

Reports to Assistant Director, Security Facilities Management

Pay Range $90,700.00-$145,300.00
