Exciting Opportunity at MSK: We are seeking an MSK Care Advisor to join the Patient Access Service team. You will be part of an administrative and clinical team to receive, assess, and bring to appropriate resolution all new visit (external and internal) requests for physician services at the Center.

Role Overview:

  • Screen requests according to Service and Physician criteria to ensure the most accurate scheduling.
  • Improve patient access while providing a public relations role sensitive to patients’ needs by using critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Build an excellent and accurate embodiment of the MSK brand by providing the first impression and first experience for new patients
  • Play a significant role in generating new visit volume, figuring out whether patients choose to receive treatment at MSK, and, in turn, generating revenue and growth for the institution
  • Field incoming inquiries and requests, and match patients to the best possible service, physician, and appointment based on their diagnosis, geographic location, and preferences
  • Develop deep expertise in a primary clinical group (set of disease areas)
  • Removes obstacles for new patients by assisting with obtaining records, radiology/pathology reports, etc.
  • Directing patients regarding insurance concerns; and advocating to secure timely appointments
  • Exceed patient expectations with your accessibility, knowledge, generosity, partnership, and support —serving as a guide for patients, caregivers, and clinical leadership

Key Qualifications & Core Skills:

  • Interest in a role that combines both clinical and administrative responsibilities
  • 1-3 years of related experience within the healthcare field
  • Knowledge of medical terminology; ability and interest to learn clinical information and criteria
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Epic
  • Ability to handle acutely ill outpatients in stressful situations

Additional Information:

Location:  Hybrid ( 1114 First Avenue)

Hours: Flexed availability Monday-Sunday (flexible to work between the hours of 8 am and 6 pm; schedules vary for department coverage); hybrid

Pay Range: $28.42 - $44.00
