Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Infection Prevention & Control Technician
This role supports MSK’s Infection Prevention & Control team by conducting microbiological and molecular diagnostics. You'll manage lab data, maintain equipment, and uphold safety protocols—all while contributing to research efforts that support MSK’s mission to end cancer for life.
Role Overview
- Support the development of molecular diagnostic and epidemiologic tests in a lab setting.
- Collect, maintain, and catalog a library of organisms used for molecular testing.
- Perform and schedule basic molecular diagnostic techniques daily.
- Enter and manage test data using internal databases.
- Maintain and calibrate lab equipment, ensuring compliance with operational standards.
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies to support uninterrupted lab operations.
- Follow all institutional, local, state, and federal regulations and safety standards.
- Stay current with advancements in molecular diagnostics through education and literature.
- Assist with infection prevention research studies and special projects as assigned.
Key Qualifications
- 0–2 years of lab experience ideal.
- Familiarity with molecular biology techniques and diagnostic procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently under moderate supervision.
- Strong organizational skills with a detail-oriented approach to data and testing procedures.
Core Skills
- Proficiency in laboratory data entry, equipment use, and inventory management.
- Basic understanding of regulatory compliance in healthcare and research settings.
- Effective oral and written communication within a clinical or scientific environment.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in lab sciences.
Additional Information:
- Pay Range: $23.54-$35.44
- Reporting to Associate Director, Infection Prevention & Control
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm
