Exciting opportunity at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center!

Are you passionate about ground breaking research and advancing cancer treatment? Our Immune Monitoring Core Facility is seeking a Research Assistant to support immune monitoring of cancer immunotherapy trials, mainly focused on clinical sample testing using validated soluble protein biomarker assays (including multiplex immunoassays, ELISAs, and serology/seromics panels) and clinical sample processing.

Role Overview:

  • Performing multiplex immunoassays with accuracy & precision for soluble protein biomarker quantitation on the Meso Scale Discovery platform (and possibly Luminex or other immunoassay platforms in the future).
  • Running serological assays to measure clinical trial patient antibody responses by ELISA or high content protein microarrays (e.g., CDI Laboratories, Sengenics).
  • Supporting clinical sample processing including PBMC and plasma isolation/cryopreservation from whole blood, extraction of TILs from tumor tissue, and assistance in the accurate maintenance of clinical sample inventories for proper sample tracking.
  • Researching scientific literature for methods and procedures to identify innovative methodologies for immune monitoring assays; ordering and maintaining laboratory supplies.
  • Drafting and adhering to laboratory standard operating procedures for assays and routine methodologies.
  • Analyzing data and creating graphs using appropriate software (e.g., MSD Workbench, SoftMax Pro, Excel, Prism) and data visualization tools; writing reports of results and methods used and presenting data at regular lab meetings.
  • Routine maintenance and operation of a variety of laboratory instruments used to perform sample analyses which may include, but are not limited to: ELISA microplate readers, multiplex immunoassay analyzers, microarray scanners, automated plate washers, cell counting instruments, flow cytometers.
  • Following proper safety recommendations and handling procedures for different biological and chemical materials and ensuring others in the laboratory adhere to proper safety procedures.
  • Training other laboratory personnel as needed.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications:

  • B.S. in biology or related field with 7 years of relevant experience, or M.S. with 4 years of experience.

Additional Information:

  • Schedule: 37.5 hours per week (onsite)

Pay Range: $66,500 - $103,100
