Director, Practice Plan Administration

Shape the future of MSK’s Practice Plan 

Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) is seeking a Director, Practice Plan Administration to lead the evolution of our practice plan operations. This critical role aligns with our vision, mission, and values, fostering a culture of collaboration and driving institutional goals forward. 

Role Overview

Reporting to the Chief Physician Executive (CPE), the Director will lead the operational, financial, and programmatic activities of MSK’s Practice Plan. This pivotal leadership role requires a strategic thinker who can deliver measurable results.  

Key responsibilities include, 

  • Partnering with the CPE, Hospital President, and senior leaders to develop systemic solutions and identify key themes across the organization.
  • Establishing analytics and metrics to monitor and improve practice plan performance.
  • Driving the redesign and implementation of workflows, faculty compensation structures, and revenue alignment.
  • Managing stakeholder relationships and fostering engagement across departments and teams.
  • Leading projects to support short- and long-term priorities in an evolving environment.

Key Qualifications and Knowledge

  • 7+ years of experience managing staff, budgets, physician compensation, or academic funds flow, within a large academic or complex health program that includes Practice Plan Administration services.
  • Expertise in hospital operations, including physician practice lifecycle, medical professional billing (CPT codes, RVUs), and EPIC billing systems.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare systems, policies, regulations, compliance and HR best practices in addition to faculty recruitment, development, and compensation plans.
  • Financial and operational knowledge, including budgeting, revenue cycle management, and understanding faculty salary allocation.

  • Financial Stewardship and Process Improvement: Skilled in streamlining processes and optimizing clinical operations to enhance efficiency while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving: Proficient in using data and analytics to identify solutions, drive performance improvements, and address challenges.
  • Adaptability and Change Management: Effective at navigating ambiguity, driving innovation, and implementing organizational change initiatives.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and align stakeholders at all levels.
  • Project Management: Competence in managing multiple projects, ensuring timely and successful completion.

Additional Information

  • Location: MSK’s main hospital campus, 1275 York Avenue, Manhattan. 
  • Schedule: Hybrid, with flexibility to collaborate onsite weekly; 2-3 days on site weekly on average.
  • Compensation: $162,000 - $267,200 annually.
  • Reports To: Chief Physician Executive.
