We are seeking a highly motivated candidate interested in developing and applying novel statistical methods in MSK’s interdisciplinary microbiome research program for a position as a postdoctoral fellow. The successful candidate will work on developing innovative high-dimensional statistical methods, scalable computational algorithms, and accessible software packages for MSK’s unique and continuously growing clinical microbiome database of more than 10,000 longitudinal stool samples with comprehensive metadata. This position presents exciting opportunities to advance our understanding of microbial associations with patient outcomes, medications, nutrients, or multi-omics, and to answer impactful clinical research questions in a data-driven approach. The successful candidate will collaborate with a closely-knit microbiome research team consisting of physician-scientists, computational biologists, and wet-lab research technicians, fostering mutual supports across various domains. The postdoctoral fellow will be co-mentored by Drs. Teng Fei and Li-Xuan Qin for an initial period of two years, with the potential for extension into a third year.
The ideal candidate should possess:
- A doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics, computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related discipline.
- Experiences in one or more of the following areas: high-dimensional data, compositional data, longitudinal/survival data, and mixture modeling.
- Experiences in high performance computing system and/or statistical software development.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
