One thousand employers across 25 industries are recognized on two lists, one for large and one for mid-size employers. Forbes created the lists in partnership with world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider Statista, which conducted an independent survey of approximately 170,000 Americans working for companies with more than 1,000 workers in the United States. Employers were ranked based on direct recommendations from respondents who were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employer to friends and family, as well as by indirect recommendations from friends and family of employees or members of the public who work in the same industry.
