Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion at MSK

MSK views diversity in the broadest sense. We are committed to fostering a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment to ensure that every member of the MSK community is treated with courtesy, respect, and dignity. Our areas of focus and support include race, ethnicity, cross-cultural diversity, age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, LGBTQ, religion, and persons with disabilities.

Here you’ll be encouraged to champion your ideas and perspectives because each individual contribution leads to a greater whole.

EMPLOYEE RESOURCE NETWORKS

Building belonging & inclusive work environments

Our employee resource networks (ERNs) help us foster inclusive work environments. Employees who join an ERN are given several opportunities to network, share knowledge and connect with one another. Everyone’s welcome to join them.

ABLE: Abolishing Barriers and Limitations for Everyone

ABLE is committed to creating a work environment where employees with health challenges and disabilities remain engaged and achieve their full potential. They aim to create a safe space for discussion, information, advocacy, awareness, and engagement. All members of the MSK community, including allies, are welcome.

BLAM: Black, Latino, Asian and Multiracial

BLAM promotes awareness, recognition, and appreciation of diverse ethnicities at MSK by providing a platform for networking and communication. They aim to address the needs of our diverse patients, employees, and community through mobilization, community outreach, and career development.

BLAM FFA: BLAM Faculty & Fellows Alliance

BLAM FFA supports MSK’s diverse community of physicians and provides a platform for networking and communication. In alignment with MSK’s mission, they aim to address the needs of URM physicians through faculty and fellow mentorship, professional development, and community outreach.

MWM: MSK Women on the move

MWM is dedicated to the professional and personal development of MSK's female employees. They aim to create an inclusive environment by connecting women at all levels of the organization, providing opportunities for knowledge exchange, and helping our communities.

MSK LGBTQ+ Pride

LGBTQ+ Pride’s mission is to make our LGBTQ employees, patients, families, and community partners feel respected, comfortable, and valued, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. This group is committed to the benefits of networking, recruitment, retention, and career development and encourages knowledge sharing.

VETERaN: Veterans Engaged Toward Employee Resources and Networking

VETERaN supports and creates initiatives for veterans in hiring, career development, accessibility, benefits, and more. By sharing the expertise and experience of veterans and their families, VETERaN helps recruit and retain top talent, increasing patient access and enhancing the patient experience.

Working Parents at MSK

In late 2020, the Office of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion hosted a forum for Working Parents at MSK. This discussion brought together parents and caregivers from across MSK who shared experiences (and challenges) of balancing family and work throughout the pandemic. The discussions were engaging, and the ED&I team recognized the institutional need for a new Employee Resource Network dedicated to MSK Working Parents.
