A Legacy of Dedication: Sally Glessman’s 40-Year Journey at MSK

For Sally Glessman, Manager, Finance Reporting, MSK is more than just a workplace—it’s a family tradition. With 40 years in the Finance Department, Sally continues a legacy started by her mother and grandmother, both of whom worked at MSK before her.

Her MSK journey began in childhood, spending summers with her grandmother, Molly “Mary” Jelnicky, who worked in Rehabilitation. Years later, her mother, Sally “Cecelia” Jelnicky, joined MSK’s Quality Assurance and Accounts Payable teams, further deepening the family’s ties to the institution.

After earning a degree from Pace University, Sally joined MSK in 1985 as a Junior Budget Accountant, steadily advancing her career while bridging the worlds of Finance and IT. She played a key role in implementing MSK’s first enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and continues to drive innovations as MSK transitions to Epic.

Reflecting on Women’s History Month, Sally honors the resilience of the women in her life—from her grandmother, a widowed single mother, to her mother, who defied societal norms to provide for her family. Their strength shaped her own journey, and she continues to advocate for recognizing and uplifting women in the workplace.

“Women are the foundation,” Sally says. “Supporting each other’s contributions builds a culture of respect.”

After four decades, Sally remains committed to MSK, honoring her family’s legacy of dedication and service. “People are amazed when I say I’ve been here this long,” she says. “But when the organization is MSK, it just happens.”
