A Journey of Purpose: Diana Acosta’s Path in Nuclear Medicine

For Diana Acosta, CNMT, becoming a PET CT Tech in Radiology at MSK was an unexpected yet meaningful journey. She joined MSK in 2020, navigating roles across multiple locations before finding her place at the David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care. Driven by a desire to help others, Diana’s passion for patient care stems from both personal experience and family influence.

As the eldest daughter of Dominican immigrants, she felt a strong duty to support her family. Initially set on a physical therapy career, she pivoted to nuclear medicine and CT imaging, ultimately leading her to MSK—where her mother, Zunilda Vega, has been a Mammography Tech since 2018. Inspired by her mother’s experiences and MSK’s compassionate approach, Diana knew she had found her calling.

Beyond her clinical role, Diana has embraced leadership as an Epic Credentialed Trainer, helping colleagues navigate new systems. She also stays engaged in community service, advocating for violence prevention through her sorority, Omega Phi Beta.

For Women’s History Month, Diana reflects on the evolution of women’s roles and draws strength from the women in her family. “We’re able to do so much now, and that amazes me,” she says. Her message to women? “You can achieve anything you set your mind to. The world is ours.”
