MSK: A Decade of Dedication to LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality

Since 2013, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) has been proudly recognized as a leader in the 2024 Healthcare Equality Index (HEI), a renowned benchmarking tool curated by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, assessing hospitals and healthcare establishments nationwide on their commitment to providing equitable and inclusive care for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer patients, their families, and employees.

This accolade reaffirms MSK's unwavering dedication to inclusive excellence, delivering compassionate and respectful treatment to all patients, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Upholding the values of inclusion and belonging, MSK continues to set a high standard in LGBTQ+ healthcare.

The HEI 2024 asked participants a series of questions about LGBTQ + inclusive policies and practices. Through diligent efforts and innovative approaches, MSK has not only met but exceeded these criteria, earning recognition once again as a leader in new dimensions of LGBTQ patient care.

The achievement reflects the collective efforts of MSK's dedicated staff, including the LGBTQ+ Clinical Advisory Committee, the LGBTQ+ Pride Employee Resource Network (ERN), the Office of Inclusion & Belonging, the Office of Health Equity and allied partners across the institution. Their tireless work and unwavering support have propelled MSK to the forefront of progressive change, setting an example for healthcare institutions worldwide.

As MSK celebrates this milestone achievement, it remains steadfast in its mission to provide equitable and inclusive care, ensuring that every individual receives the highest standard of treatment and support, regardless of their identity or background.
