The Division of Subspecialty Medicine in the Department of Medicine seeks an exceptional academic dermatologist and visionary leader to serve as Chief of the Dermatology Service. This is an extraordinary opportunity to lead one of the nation's premier oncologic dermatology programs and to advance innovation in patient care, research, education, and multidisciplinary collaboration across the cancer continuum.

The Dermatology Service

The Dermatology Service is an internationally recognized group of faculty with expertise in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and research of skin cancers and skin toxicities related to cancer therapies. The Service faculty provides comprehensive care for patients with melanoma, non-melanoma skin cancers, rare cutaneous malignancies, and dermatologic complications arising from cancer treatment. Faculty members also provide specialized expertise in oncodermatology, Mohs micrographic surgery, dermatologic surgery, advanced imaging, and dermatology informatics.

The Service is distinguished by its multidisciplinary approach to care, partnering closely with colleagues across Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Pathology, Radiology, Plastic Surgery, Immunology, and other clinical specialties to deliver personalized care for patients throughout the cancer continuum. Faculty are internationally recognized leaders in reflectance confocal microscopy, digital dermoscopy, three-dimensional total body photography, artificial intelligence applications in dermatology, and other emerging technologies that advance the early detection and management of skin cancer.

The Service Chief will report to the Head of the Division of Subspecialty Medicine and will provide strategic, clinical, academic, and operational leadership for the Dermatology Service. The Chief will be responsible for advancing the Service's clinical excellence, research portfolio, educational mission, faculty development, philanthropy, and impact on the management of cutaneous malignancies and dermatologic manifestations of cancer and its treatment worldwide.

The Service Chief will oversee clinical operations, faculty recruitment and retention, mentorship, quality improvement, strategic growth, and collaborations across Memorial Sloan Kettering while fostering innovation in patient care and translational research.

The clinical, research, and educational mission of the Dermatology Service is organized around sixstrategic pillars:

1. Cutaneous Oncology: Lead the continued advancement of comprehensive multidisciplinary care for patients with melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, Merkel cell carcinoma, cutaneous lymphomas, and other rare skin malignancies. Promote innovations in prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship for patients with skin cancer.

2. Oncodermatology: Advance programs dedicated to preventing, diagnosing, and managing dermatologic toxicities associated with systemic therapies, radiation therapy, stem cell transplantation, and immunotherapy. Continue developing evidence-based approaches that improve quality of life while enabling patients to remain on life-saving cancer treatments.

3 Procedural Dermatology: Advance excellence in Mohs micrographic surgery, dermatologic surgery, laser therapies, photodynamic therapy, photobiomodulation, and reconstructive approaches that maximize oncologic control while preserving function and appearance.

4. Innovation in Dermatologic Imaging and Technology: Expand MSK's leadership in non-invasive imaging technologies, including reflectance confocal microscopy, digital dermoscopy, total body photography, artificial intelligence, and dermatology informatics. Foster collaborations that accelerate precision diagnostics and improve early detection of skin cancer.

5. Research and Innovation: The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build upon MSK's internationally recognized research portfolio in skin cancer biology, imaging technologies, artificial intelligence, clinical trials, prevention, survivorship, and supportive care. Faculty are pioneering advances in non-invasive imaging, digital diagnostics, AI-assisted skin cancer detection, and management of dermatologic toxicities associated with novel cancer therapies.  The successful candidate will have outstanding opportunities to develop collaborative research programs spanning clinical trials, imaging technologies, artificial intelligence, implementation science, and translational investigations that improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of skin cancers and dermatologic complications of cancer therapy.

The Service Chief will foster collaborations across MSK's research enterprise to expand investigator-initiated clinical trials, translational science, implementation research, and technology development.

6. Education, and Faculty Development: Strengthen the Service's translational, clinical, and population science research portfolio while expanding educational programs, including our multiple fellowships, residency training, visiting scholars, and multidisciplinary educational initiatives. Cultivate the next generation of leaders in dermato-oncology and oncodermatology.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should be board-certified in Dermatology. The ideal candidate will possess:

• A compelling vision for the future of academic dermatology within a world-leading comprehensive cancer center.
• National or international recognition as an academic leader with a distinguished record of clinical excellence, education, research, and program development. Candidates with expertise and focus on either medical dermatology or surgical dermatology (Moh’s) will be considered.
• Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary clinical and academic programs.
• A strong record of scholarly achievement, including peer-reviewed publications, grant funding, clinical research, translational investigation, or innovation in dermatology.
• A demonstrated commitment to mentorship, faculty development, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Eligibility for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level, commensurate with experience.

Compensation: Expected base salary range is $535,000–$665,000 for this role. In addition, this position is eligible for an annual bonus based on multiple leadership incentive variables. This range does not include any potential supplemental or one-time payments that may be offered at the time of hire or retirement benefits, and other competitive benefits.
