About Us:

The people of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) are united by a singular mission: ending cancer for life. Our specialized care teams provide personalized, compassionate, expert care to patients of all ages. Informed by basic research done at our Sloan Kettering Institute, scientists across MSK collaborate to conduct innovative translational and clinical research that is driving a revolution in our understanding of cancer as a disease and improving the ability to prevent, diagnose, and treat it. MSK is dedicated to training the next generation of scientists and clinicians, who go on to pursue our mission at MSK and around the globe.

The Supportive Care Service in the Division of Supportive and Acute Care Services, Department of Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is seeking a full-time faculty member at the Assistant (or Associate) Attending level for clinical service to provide comprehensive palliative care at our MSK Bergen and Basking Ridge sites in New Jersey. Our 18 full-time physician faculty are dedicated to improving quality of life for patients receiving treatment. We provide Supportive Care services at all of our Manhattan and regional sites in New York, New Jersey and Long Island, with close collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry, Social Work, Integrative Medicine, Chaplaincy, and other supportive services.

The Supportive Care Service provides expert, interdisciplinary palliative care for patients with cancer who are experiencing complex physical, psychological, social, and existential challenges related to their illness and treatment. The service has expertise in pain and symptom management, communication and decision-making, goals-of-care discussions, and support for patients and families facing complex medical decisions. Our clinicians work collaboratively with oncology teams across MSK to provide patient-centered care that complements disease-directed treatment.

The successful candidate will have a predominantly outpatient clinical practice at MSK’s Westchester site, with three full days of outpatient clinic each week (6 sessions). The physician will provide inpatient Supportive Care consultation, including the supervision of MSK HPM fellows and other learners, 2 weeks per year, including weekend on call coverage, providing continuity of Supportive Care expertise across the regional outpatient and inpatient settings. The Westchester practice is supported by dedicated nursing and administrative staff and offers an opportunity to contribute to the continued growth and development of Supportive Care services for patients in the region.

For this position, candidates should have superb clinical and interpersonal skills and a commitment to teaching, quality improvement, and scholarly activity, including clinical research, educational interventions, and clinical implementation projects. Candidates must be board certified in their primary specialty and board certified / board eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine (HPM) and have completed an ACGME accredited fellowship in HPM. Note: candidates with prior academic appointments (at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor), a strong publication track record, and significant clinical experience will be considered for the rank of Associate Attending.
