Exciting Opportunity at MSK: The Anesthesia Pain Service at MSK’s Main Hospital is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our inpatient team.
The APP will work collaboratively with Anesthesia Pain physicians and multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive pain management for hospitalized adult oncology patients experiencing acute, chronic, and cancer-related pain.
Role Overview:
Perform comprehensive assessments of hospitalized adult oncology patients with acute, chronic, and cancer-related pain
Develop, implement, and manage individualized pain management plans in collaboration with the Anesthesia Pain team
Prescribe and manage pharmacologic therapies, including opioid and non-opioid medications
Evaluate patients’ response to treatment and adjust multimodal pain management strategies as clinically appropriate
Manage complex pain needs associated with cancer, cancer treatment, surgical procedures, and other acute clinical conditions
Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing, surgical, medical oncology, and other multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
Provide education and support to patients and families regarding pain management plans and expectations
Document patient assessments, treatment plans, and clinical communications accurately and timely in Epic
Ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal prescribing and documentation requirements
Participate in continuity of care and handoffs across the inpatient Anesthesia Pain Service
Key Qualifications:
Current New York State licensure as a Physician Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
For Nurse Practitioners: Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) board certification required
For Physician Assistants: current NCCPA certification
Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program
APP experience in pain management, anesthesia, acute care, inpatient medicine, oncology, or a related specialty preferred
Experience managing complex and acutely ill patients preferred
Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced inpatient multidisciplinary environment
Proficiency with Epic electronic medical record documentation preferred

Additional Information:
Location: MSK Main Hospital, 1275 York Avenue, New York, NY
Schedule: 12 shifts/month, Monday–Sunday, including rotating weekends and holidays. Primary shift is 6:30 am–8:00 pm. The schedule also includes approximately two swing shifts per month, 9:30 am–11:00 pm, Monday–Friday.
Reporting to: Manager, APP
Pay Range: $155,500–$197,400 annually
