The people of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) are united by a singular mission: ending cancer for life. Our specialized care teams provide personalized, compassionate, expert care to patients of all ages. Informed by basic research done at our Sloan Kettering Institute, scientists across MSK collaborate to conduct innovative translational and clinical research that is driving a revolution in our understanding of cancer as a disease and improving the ability to prevent, diagnose, and treat it. MSK is dedicated to training the next generation of scientists and clinicians, who go on to pursue our mission at MSK and around the globe.
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) seeks a Director for the GMP Shared Resource Facility within the Sloan Kettering Institute. This role provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of a shared, hoteling-based GMP manufacturing and quality control environment. The Director ensures continuous inspection readiness across manufacturing suites and analytical operations, meeting regulatory, cGMP, and institutional safety requirements while advancing efficiency and innovation. This is a laboratory-track faculty position fully supported by the institution.
The Director oversees daily facility operations, including maintenance, environmental monitoring, suite readiness, equipment lifecycle management, and raw material sourcing and control. Responsibilities include ensuring suites are properly configured and compliant for GMP activities, and supporting technology transfer and onboarding of new processes.
A central focus is leadership of quality control and analytical functions to enable product release and regulatory compliance. The Director will establish a risk-based analytical control strategy across modalities such as cell therapies, viral vectors, and biologics. Responsibilities include assay development and validation, in-process and release testing, stability programs, and method transfer. The role also involves building analytical infrastructure and ensuring timely, compliant batch testing aligned with manufacturing timelines, in collaboration with MSK research labs.
The director partners with Clinical Research Quality Assurance to oversee quality systems (deviations, CAPA, change control, document management) and maintain inspection readiness, serving as a key subject matter expert during audits. Additional responsibilities include long-term operational planning, budget management, and development of scalable models to support facility growth.
The role includes financial and personnel management, including hiring, training, and staff development, and requires strong cross-functional collaboration across research, clinical, and quality teams.
Candidates must hold an MD or PhD in Biological Sciences with at least 10 years of relevant experience in academic or industry settings. Required expertise includes investigational and clinical manufacturing (particularly immuno-oncology), regulatory submissions, and advanced product testing. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential. Experience managing large, multiuser core facilities is highly desirable.
Inquiries may be sent to Patrick Badua, Senior Project Coordinator of Core Facilities Operations at baduap@mskcc.org.
