Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Pediatric Psychiatry team in a consultative role supporting patients across the pediatric platform.

This position is open to Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) interested in providing specialized psychiatric care to children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer and blood disorders throughout the continuum of care.

Role Overview:

  • Provide independent pediatric psychiatric consultations across the pediatric platform.

  • Conduct initial psychiatric evaluations and ongoing follow-up visits throughout the continuum of care.

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and ongoing assessments.

  • Assess acute and complex psychiatric, emotional, behavioral, developmental, and psychosocial concerns.

  • Formulate psychiatric diagnoses and individualized treatment plans.

  • Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications within scope of practice.

  • Monitor patient response to psychiatric treatment and adjust treatment plans as clinically appropriate.

  • Provide supportive counseling and psychoeducation to patients and families.

  • Evaluate and manage acute pediatric psychiatric and behavioral concerns and emergencies.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams during psychiatric and behavioral emergencies to support patient, family, and staff safety.

  • Facilitate continuity of psychiatric care across the pediatric platform.

  • Participate in care coordination, disposition planning, and family-centered treatment planning.

  • Collaborate closely with pediatric oncology, psychiatry, psychology, social work, child life, nursing, supportive care, and other interdisciplinary team members.

  • Maintain timely, accurate, and complete clinical documentation.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental activities that support clinical excellence and patient care.

Key Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program in the United States.

  • Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or current NCCPA certification for Physician Assistants.

  • Active New York State NP or PA licensure.

  • Strong interest in pediatric and adolescent mental health and psycho-oncology.

  • Comfortable independently evaluating and managing psychiatric and behavioral concerns across the pediatric platform.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams and support continuity of psychiatric care throughout the patient’s care journey.

Additional Information:

  • Schedule: Four (4) 10-hour shifts per week.

  • Coverage: Responsibilities spanning across the pediatric platform. Weekend coverage may be required based on clinical and departmental needs.

  • Reports to: Director, APP

  • Patient Population: Children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer and blood disorders.

 

Pay Range: $136,400.00 - $225,100.00
