Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is seeking a Per Diem Interventionist to join our Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences research team. In this fully remote role, you will contribute to innovative clinical research studies focused on improving the emotional well-being and quality of life of older adults affected by cancer. As part of one of the nation's leading cancer research programs, you will deliver evidence-based psychosocial interventions while helping advance the future of cancer care.

Role Overview:

The Per Diem Interventionist will deliver protocol-specific, manualized interventions for one or both of the following research studies:

  • Cancer and Aging: Reflections for Elders (CARE) – An intervention delivered by telephone to adults age 70 and older experiencing symptoms of depression or anxiety. The intervention consists of five core sessions (45–60 minutes each) and four booster sessions (20–30 minutes each) per participant.

  • Brief Behavioral Activation for Older Adult Cancer Survivors (BBA-OACs) – A manualized intervention delivered via telephone or video conferencing to adults age 65 and older. This study evaluates the effectiveness of Brief Behavioral Activation for improving depression, anxiety, psychosocial outcomes, and cancer survivorship health behaviors in English- and Spanish-speaking participants. The intervention consists of ten sessions delivered over a 10–20 week period.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining communication with the research team regarding participant scheduling and study activities.

  • Following study-specific intervention manuals and maintaining intervention fidelity.

  • Completing case notes and study documentation after each session.

  • Recording and securely transferring session recordings in accordance with study procedures.

  • Participating in required trainings and ongoing supervision meetings.

  • Maintaining compliance with institutional, state, federal, and study-specific requirements.

Key Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health discipline.

  • Current licensure to practice Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology in California.

  • Experience delivering psychosocial, behavioral, or supportive care interventions preferred.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is a plus.

  • Ability to commit to the position for at least one year.

  • Interventionists are required to maintain all applicable MSK, CITI, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Human Subjects Protection (HSP), and study-specific training requirements.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Good organizational, documentation, and time-management abilities.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to research quality and participant care.

  • Ability to actively engage older adult populations through remote interactions.

  • Experience using videoconferencing platforms, secure file transfer systems, and standard computer applications.

  • Flexibility and adaptability in responding to evolving participant and study needs.

Additional Information:

  • Hours: variable depending on participant availability. On average, between 1 and 5 hours/week.

  • Location: fully remote.

  • Compensation: $90 per hour for approved training and study-related activities.

  • Reporting to: Clinical Research Manager.
