Veteran to RSA Program
One of our newest opportunities is our “Veteran to RSA Program.” This initiative focuses on newly transitioned servicemen and women who are interested in careers in research and healthcare. These veterans are trained to become Research Study Assistants (RSAs) who perform data collection and data entry, and participate in data analysis for research projects, databases, and research protocols at MSK. The RSA position develops research skills and creates the building blocks for a career at the Center.
“I learned about the Veteran to RSA program at MSK from one of the soldiers in my last unit (who coincidentally now works in my current department). I didn’t have any clinical research experience before I joined MSK, but it’s rewarding to look at what I’ve accomplished since I started and realize that my career goals are in reach. The leadership skills instilled in the Army, especially decision making and handling high stress situations have been extremely translatable at MSK, as we’re working in an exciting period of growth. Transitioning to a civilian career can be nerve-wracking, especially because everything is new, but the MSK team was warm and welcoming, and provided me with a great mentor (who I’m still connected to), all which helped me get to where I am today.”
