Whether you’re a nutritionist, therapist, pathologist, lab tech, radiologist, social worker, or in another allied health role, you’ll be a critical part of our healthcare team, delivering exceptional care to those who need it most.

ALLIED HEALTH OPPORTUNITIES

Be brilliant in your own way

In our multidisciplinary allied health teams, everyone has the chance to shine and make a real difference. Learn and work with specialists across several healthcare functions.

Biomedical Engineering

Biomedical Engineering

The Biomedical Engineering team enhances patient care, safety, and satisfaction by evaluating new and evolving technologies for clinical application and integrating them into the patient care environment. Specializations include clinical engineering, radiological engineering, radiation oncology engineering, biomedical systems, and mechanical instrumentation.

Clinical Nutrition

Clinical nutrition is a vital part of cancer care. Our registered and certified dietitian-nutritionists help incorporate nutrition into care plans for our patients before, during, and after their cancer therapy.

Health Information Management

A blend of business, science, and computer expertise, Health Information Management
(HIM) links clinicians with information technology. It’s the bridge between a patient’s health information and health insurers, state and federal governments, and other regulating agencies.

You’ll code, scan, release, store medical documentation, and manage discharge summaries and operative reports.

Integrative Medicine

At MSK, we believe in caring for the whole person, not just their disease or symptoms. Integrative medicine weaves natural treatments such as acupuncture, massage, and yoga into our patients’ overall care plan. Our Integrative Medicine team includes therapists specializing in mind-body, acupuncture, music, and dance, as well as massage therapists, meditation guides, and martial arts instructors.

Laboratory Medicine

Our state-of-the-art clinical laboratories provide sophisticated technology and automated equipment, which means our laboratory medicine teams get answers faster, more efficiently, and with a greater emphasis on applied and translational research. We are committed to the area’s growth and the education of our scientists, clinicians, medical technologists, laboratory managers, and laboratory directors.

Medical Physics — Biomedical Engineering & Radiation Therapy

Our Medical Physics department is a recognized world leader in developing radiotherapy treatment and imaging technologies for diagnosis, therapy guidance, and treatment response monitoring. They handle the quality assurance of more than 10,000 medical instruments and are responsible for radiation therapy safety at MSK.

Pathology

Pathology is a dedicated, diverse group known for their expertise, ingenuity, and compassion. They receive more than 110,000 specimens annually and perform over 50,000 molecular diagnostic and cytogenetic tests. Around 600 staff members are spread across four laboratory services: surgical pathology, hematopathology, cytology, and molecular diagnostics.

Pathology provides laboratory support for the Mohs micrographic and dermatologic surgery program and supports MSK’s research mission through the experimental pathology division. We’re also advancing the field of digital pathology through our slide scanning and computational pathology efforts. All our laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, from ThermoFisher senior grossing stations with advanced camera optics and touch screens to advanced flow cytometry panels and Illumina sequencing instruments.

Pharmacy

Our pharmacy team takes a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, emphasizing therapeutic efficacy and safety. MSK has one of the most robust electronic clinical resources in the country and a dynamic medication safety program.

With more than 300 employees, including around 200 pharmacists, we serve patients in 26 satellite pharmacies. MSK is one of the only health systems in the country providing live, on-site, accredited continuing education pharmacy courses to help keep credentials up to date.

Radiology

With access to the latest equipment, technologies, and procedures, our radiology team works at the leading edge of innovation to make imaging and therapy more specific, sensitive, safe, and effective. Our teams specialize in several areas such as general radiology, mammography, ultrasound, CT, MRI, interventional radiology, and molecular imaging and therapy. Our research includes almost any area of imaging, ranging from traditional techniques to up-to-the-minute technologies.

Our radiology team includes chemists, radiochemists, cell biologists, immunologists, postdoctoral fellows, scholars, graduate students, research technicians, and senior scientists.

Rehabilitation

During cancer treatment, physical and occupational abilities, speech, and hearing can be negatively affected. MSK’s rehabilitation team works with rehabilitation medicine doctors, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, lymphedema therapists, and others to help our patients achieve their rehabilitation goals. These goals may include an improved ability to walk, speak or dress independently — all meaningful aspects of our mission to improve patients’ quality of life by helping them reach their maximum functional potential.

Respiratory Therapy

With leading-edge technology in invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation, fiber-optic bronchoscopy, and pulmonary rehabilitation, the respiratory therapy team focuses on patient care, education, and research.

Working collaboratively with other teams, our respiratory therapists diagnose and treat a wide variety of conditions and provide in-service education for doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Our ongoing respiratory care research includes both inhaled antibiotics and inhaled chemotherapy projects.

Social Work

Our patients’ and their families’ wellbeing is important. All patients receive ongoing support and services from MSK’s social work team. Specializing in oncology support, we develop psychoeducational programs for patients and caregivers through multiple modalities, including individual and group support throughout the continuum of cancer treatment and survivorship. Our approach is strengths-based and includes psychosocial interventions that include everything from financial impact and employment stressors to communicating with children, friends, and caregivers.

Our oncology social workers lead psychoeducational groups, work on inpatient units and in each ambulatory setting to partner with the medical team to provide excellent psychosocial support to patients and their caregivers.
