Summary

The Information Services Department at MSK is seeking an Enterprise Operator to join our Evening/Night shift. Responsible to run and monitor batch work flows in a multi-platform environment using the software tools installed at NJDC (Control-M). Monitor and support the Network, Mainframe, Unix, Windows, and Mini-computer systems work flows as well as interact with the user community when needed. (BBPM / OpenView) Perform Windows Server administration functions as well as 1st level problem diagnosis and problem resolution. Provide a 24/7 central point of contact for the status of all activity at NJDC. Ensure that all system and environmental equipment within NJDC are working properly and escalate all unresolved issues to next level. The person must also be able to perform problem diagnosis using enterprise systems and network management products, escalating problems as defined by data center management policies. Provide feedback to the various support groups in Tech Resources to maintain the efficiency of all systems and related software products in the Data Center. Perform daily off-site data protection procedures. Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor the Enterprise and Facilities environment and take required action when necessary
  • Document, follow-up and resolve problems via (Remedy)
  • Interact with the user community and provide Help Desk support during assigned shift, off-hours and weekends
  • Perform routine day-to-day Windows Server administration functions
  • Use EMS (Enterprise Management Services) products and/or manual procedures to maintain the continued operations of all network components, mainframe and client /server systems
  • Monitor production batch schedules, running in a multi platform environment
  • Document the status of shift activity and communicate all relevant information to ensure smooth and accurate turnovers
  • Perform librarian functions, as a backup or in an emergency, when needed to ensure daily Disaster Recovery and offsite vaulting processes are run and completed

You Are:

  • Very skilled with batch processing, enterprise monitoring, and Windows Administration
  • Able to exercise substantial independence of judgment in performing job duties
  • Able to follow documented procedures with complicated instructions
  • Able to work effectively in an environment notable for complex, sometimes contradictory information
  • A good decision-maker, with proven success at making timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward.
  • An effective communicator, capable of determining how best to reach different audiences and executing communications based on that understanding.

You Need:

  • Associate’s Degree or Certified Vocational Training in Computer Science, Math, or Engineering required
  • 3-5 years of related work experience
  • Operations experience with the following: Mainframe, Windows Sever, Unix, Control-M, Remedy, BPPM / OpenView..
