Administrative Secretary to the Dermatology Service Chief, Dr. Allan Halpern

We are:

The Dermatology Service assists in the diagnosis and treatment of all patients with Skin Cancers or Side Effects from the treatment of cancers. Members of the service work together the Medical Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists and Surgeons who are treating the cancer, when they are not treating the cancer on their own. We support patients with active cancer as well as routine monitoring to surveil high risk populations and eliminate future cancers before they occur. This interdisciplinary approach allows the Dermatology Service to provide care that not only fights cancer but improves quality of life for patients as well as their families. Our growing program of research focuses on imaging, reducing side effects from chemotherapy, and improving quality of life during and after surgery. We are seeking an Administrative Secretary to support Dr. Alan Halpern, Service Chief of Dermatology.

You will:

  • Manage and maintain academic and research oriented medical practice, provide administrative support to the Service Chief (SC), and assist the Clinical Practice Manager (CPS) in support of the service as necessary.
  • Perform various clerical duties and administrative duties, including but not limited to physician calendar management, organizing travel arrangements, coordinating meetings, processing reimbursements, assisting with grant submission, meeting minutes to contribute to the smooth operations of the department.
  • Prepare/produce documents including memos, correspondence, reports, presentations, and manuals as required.
  • Complete required paperwork/communication tools for department.
  • Answer assigned phone lines and direct calls; use correct telephone techniques and procedures when receiving and making calls; cross-cover other lines as assigned.
  • Assist and participates in service projects.
  • Use your strong customer service and multi-tasking abilities to support a practice by providing administrative support to the clinical team.
  • Cross-cover POA lines as needed.

You have:

  • Bachelors degree preferred plus one year of experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Strong prioritization, attention to detail and organizational skills.
