About This Role:

The ICU Unit Assistant acts as a liaison between the patient and/or family and MSKCC staff to ensure the timely and efficient provision of services during the patient’s stay. The Unit Assistant also ensures the accurate and timely implementation of orders, the coordination of services and responds to patient and family inquires in a professional manner. Multitasking, immaculate communication and great customer service skills are essential in this important role.

The ideal candidate group includes Medical Assistants working in a fast-paced environment or graduates with an Associate’s Degree or minimum of two years of college in addition to customer service and healthcare experience. Successful applicants must enjoy working as part of a team, possess strong communication skills, take an analytical approach to problem solving and exhibit initiative. Computer skills are also required as is the ability to handle stressful situations.

This is a full-time position – 12 hour Night Shift from 8:00pm – 8:30am Monday through Friday with weekend rotation.

What You Need:


* Required: A High School Diploma or GED is required
* Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree


* A minimum of 2 years of related experience with proven experience in customer service and with multitasking. Strong communication skills, organizational, prioritization, and computer skills are also required in this role.
