We Are:
The Josie Robertson Surgery Center, which opened in January 2016, is located near Memorial Hospital, on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. At full capacity, the JRSC will be staffed by more than 400 employees, 24 hours a day, six days per week.

You Will:

  • Supervise and guide the functions and activities of employees in the Plant Operations shop
  • Plan for projects: in collaboration with other shops and trades and departments across MSK and investigate delays, solve problems and ensure timely completion of current projects
  • Ensure compliance with institutional/ departmental policies, procedures, quality standards and improvement initiatives, safety standards, and OSHA requirements
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of NFPA codes and standards. Provide technical expertise on construction, maintenance, repair, operation and alteration of plumbing, mechanical, medical gas, and sprinkler/standpipe systems, and mechanical equipment for all MSK sites and properties
  • Maintain adequate inventory of supplies/ materials and equipment and reorders as necessary including management of monthly budget, expense reports, and purchase approvals for materials procured through corporate credit card
  • Oversee and guide the preventative maintenance of Plant Operations equipment during the off hours
  • Take appropriate action in emergencies including 24 hour on call availability
  • Maintain and enhance professional growth and development through participation in workshops, seminars, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of trends in the field and to assist with quality improvement initiatives

You Need:

  • High School or trade school Diploma / GED
  • 10+ years experience in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) field
  • New York City Refrigerating System Operator License- Required
  • New York City High-Pressure Boiler Stationary Engineer License Required
  • Fire Safety Director / Emergency Action Plan Director (FSD/EAP) or ability to obtain within nine months Required
  • Association of Energy Engineers Certified Energy Manager Preferred
  • Building Operator Certificate (BOC) Level I and Level II Preferred
  • Association of Energy Engineers Existing Building Commission Professional Preferred
  • New York City G71 (Supervision of piped non-flammable medical gas)
  • New York City G-29(Safe use of flammable gasses above six psi)
  • New York City G35 (operate air compressors)
  • New York City G79 (use and storage of cryogenic liquid /gas)
  • New York City S12 and S13 (Standpipe and Sprinkler Certificates)
  • New York City P98 (Supervise Fuel oil piping & Storage in Buildings)
  • Fire Safety Director / Emergency Action Plan Director (FSD/EAP) or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Association of Energy Engineers Certified Energy Manager preferred
  • Association of Energy Engineers Existing Building Commission Professional Preferred
